As a young man I was big time into cars and drag racing as I grew up in the 60's and 70's in the greater Los Angeles area. I would often go to Orange County International Raceway (long gone) and Irwindale Drag Strip (still there).
One of my favorites at the drag races were the wheel standers. I saw quite a few including cars racing side by side down the track on two wheels. Of all of them, my favorite was the "Little Red Wagon".
Tonight I took out my Little Red Wagon diecast model and without the aid of lighting or a tripod I took a quick handheld shot to send to a friend while we chatted about the good old days.
The phrase "Put a Dodge in Your Garage" was from a popular series of Dodge commercials and a little old lady quipping about how good Dodge cars were. The Little Red Wagon was a Dodge pickup van with a blown 426 Hemi in the bed. Loud and fast.
In my youth the real "Maverick" drove a wheel stander not a fighter jet.
Pretty cool...but I'll take the F-14, or F-18, take your pick. But in the real world, "Mavericks" don't go very far in the Military Flying venue!!

True that. I have a friend who was a F18 pilot on a flat top. He shattered some records at Top Gun. He was far from being the Maverick type. All business, hell of an athlete, and brilliant mind. He speaks fluent Russian so no need for hand gestures. 🤣🤣🤣
The "real" Mavericks.... Brothers Bret and Bart and cousin Beauregarde... All three actors appeared together in just one episode of the series, but one of them appeared as a separate character. But I do like the lil' red Dodge and nothing quite lives up to F14 and F18. BTW, the Little Ol' Lady of Pasadena also drove a "shiny red, super stock Dodge."

I remember going to both Irwindale raceway and OCIR. I saw the little super beetle at Irwindale. It would actually jump in the air when it left the line.
