This a wonderful account of a person connecting with the fact of his past. And the story of the restoration of the writing box was simply exemplary and just as the letter in the box connected the old man to his past, so does the box itself connect with its maker. Below is one of my favorite quotes from DH Lawrence about how the craftsmanship of a particular piece of work connects with Craftsman who made it.
