I love mine go on you tube and follow Hudson Henry and he tell you how to setup the different banks in camera and explain why he selected the settings . It’s very good and save you a ton of time

...shuffle the deck between Hudson and Steve Perry, you won't go wrong!

As others have said…it's pretty awesome…but depending on what you had before there's an awful lot you'll need to learn/relearn/change from how you used to do things. While there are probably hundreds of videos out there on it…my personal suggestion is to review Hudson Henry's 4 videos (hudsonhenry.com or YouTube) on setting the banks up and how that changed with firmware 3.01. The second thing you'll need is a decent book…here I recommend the ones from Steve Perry over at backcountrygallery.com. His Z9 for wildlife book will be immensely helpful even if you don't do much wildlife because he's a great teacher, writer, and explainer. He's also got a book on the AF system in Nikon mirrorless that explains all the options in great detail but a lot of that is duplicated in the Z9 Wildlife book. There are other books you can buy but most of them are just way too detailed and really only useful as a reference while Steve's you'll read cover to cover and actually learn things.

Your F mount glass will work on it just fine…in fact the AF for most of the lenses will be better due to the newer tech and faster processor in the Z9 over earlier models…but you'll probably quickly start to upgrade your lenses to the Z mounts…they're simply better than most of their F mount equivalents…not because of the fact that they're Z mount but because they're newer designs done with better optical software on more powerful computers and that leads overall to better IQ lenses. Most are also smaller and lighter than their F mount brethren as well and they have more controls on the lens that the Z9 takes advantage of very nicely. Without knowing what you think about TCs…most folk have found that the performance of the Z TCs is so much better than that of the F mount ones that they get used a lot more…although they only work with certain of the Z mount lenses but that group includes most/all of the telephotos that you would want a TC with anyway.

It's not just a camera but a lifestyle. You will spend many hours learning how to use it. All the good books are online but there is one person who publishes the manual and updates in a spiral system in regular size paper. I real help and allows you to make notes. Areal necessity.

...oh, I'm sure. But I'm saturated with what I've garnered so far...I'm a YouTube kinda guy, visual learner and all that. Not a big fan of "books" and, of course, YMMV. I find *using* it is pushes me forward...if I run into something I need to know I've got the resources to get 'er done, and practice *that!*

I just ordered a Nikon Z9 from B and H photo. Does anyone have one out there and tell me your experiences with it. Thank you so much.

Well, that is a great question. Lots of positive responses so far. A lot of those responses have helped to reassure me that getting a Z9 is going to be a very good decision. Lots of learning to add to the knowledge that I have about the Z9 already. Thank you for the question and for the positive responses.
