Not so with me---My Grandmother listened to Amelita Galli-Curci & Enrico Caruso and until well after she married my Grandfather, rode around in a horse drawn buggy until ten plus years later---a Model T Ford. Not all or probably most on UHH are not in the generation fostering his thread. And our knowledge and views on photography are not monolithic either.----------ew

Agree - totally!!! My grandmothers were gone before this - and I never knew a grandfather, as they were long gone! (Of course, some of this may be attributable to the fact that in two days I will be 95, but our proclivities were quite different, as well!!! - then, and now!!!)

Congratulations on 95. I hope you make the age of "Old Parr" from the days of the English Charles I. I am a sprout at 82, but hope to rival Old Parr, myself through healthy diet.---------------------

My groovin was from an earlier time, although I grew up in the early rock and roll and spent many hours in my "photographic dark room" with Elvis, Fats and all. Much earlier--in my pre-school --pre kindergarden days I wore out the center holes of our Andrew Sisters hot platters in our phono-changer. Dad bought the phonograph for his Dad as he was dying a week before I was born and it came with the hot Decca records by the Andrew Sisters. In HS I developed a serious interest in early Hot Jazz, Race/blues, and hot popular of the time 1900 on with greats like Jelly Roll Morton. All "pre-1940" before bob. -------------

It is interesting how we come to enjoy the music we do. As with food, I enjoy a variety of flavors and also as with food, there are certain music varieties I can take or leave or just don't care for. That is not to say that I don't appreciate the talent and work that goes into creating it. I guess our preferences for what appeals to us with regard to the photography we find appealing works something like this.

I was wondering where my Grandmother kept the quarters for that parking meter.
Oh yes. Way back then the parking meters probably accepted nickels.
