I have a Fujifilm X-T5 with two zooms (10-24 & 18-55) and three fixed-length lenses (23, 50, 90). This year's travel agenda includes cruises to Australia and Africa. I'm concerned that I'll be in big trouble if the T5 fails or is stolen. Please suggest a backup Fujifilm body that's relatively light and inexpensive if purchased used -- that will ensure that I can use my lenses on these trips. Thank you for helping me.
I find the X-S10 to be perfect for me. It has the 4th Gen sensor, but it doesn’t have weather sealing. It also has IBIS. It does use PASM though instead of some dials. I like it because it’s lighter and smaller, but yet I can still use my XF35mm f1.4, my 18-55, and my 70-300.
The funny thing is that I sold an S10 to get the money for the T5, and that was not the best thing to do. I love the S10 grip, but it's a bit more than I wanted to pay for a backup body. Also, it's about the same size and weight as the T5. Realistically, the E3 may be the wisest choice.

I listed my lenses to provide insight into the 2nd body I'm seeking. I seldom carry more than two lenses when I'm shooting: One on the camera and the other in my pocket. The lenses fit neatly in a Peak Design Camera Cube that will remain in my stateroom onboard the ship. I'm taking the idea of a longer lens seriously, but I want to know, with the 40-meg sensor, whether the 90mm (135mm equivalent) can emulate a 270mm lens with judicious cropping. I like the X-T3 idea if I can afford it; otherwise, an X-E3 might be the second choice. Also, I've owned the 15-45 and 16-80 zoom, and I've found that the 18-55 is the best for me. Also, I would rate the 10-24 WR as the most satisfying Fujinon zoom of all.

Even an "emulated" "cropped" 270mm is going to leave you short by at least 300mm!! There is no getting around it! If you are going to Africa with animals in mind you need at least 500mm IMHO! I used a D850, 45mp sensor and it was adequate with a lot of cropping on some shots. More than adequate on most shots and short on about 15% of shots. I would have loved a 600mm! Think about renting if need be. If you will be going back in a year or two, no worries!!
Seems like fuji has two decent long telephoto options - a 70-300 for about $800 and and a 100-400 for just shy of $2000. If you’re comfortable shooting manual mode you might consider an older telephoto with a fuji adapter. A Canon FD or takumar 400mm is less than $150 adapter $20 or so.
If you are interested, I have an X-T2 and X-T3. Can sell the bodies - both in excellent shape and limited use. I also have a range of Fuji lenses. Feel free to email me

For sure, a telephoto with some reach is critical. As has been said often before, have 2 cameras set up with different lens, ready to shoot so you don’t need to change lenses on the fly.

Just buy an older XT-2 or XT-3, they are excellent cameras and your lenses will all be compatible.
I've been paying attention to all the comments. I've just ordered a Fujinon 70-300mm zoom for the trips & I will be selling my 90mm f2 to balance the scales. Also, based on your collective advice, I'm looking for a pristine used X-T30 or an X-T3 for about $500. Thank you for all the assistance I received.
