Photos are OK depending on the subject matter but videos are really silly unless you are going to set up your TV in vertical orientation.

This is pretty amazing. Not often we see unanimous (?) agreement in an UHH post. BTW, guilty as charged. A majority of my images can stand a 1°-2° CCW tweak. It’s in my DNA.

Mine is sort of the opposite. I amaze myself how crooked I can take a photo and NOT notice it. When I first started posting photo's on the hog, people would thankfully point this out so I could fix it. Now, I am much better at NOT taking a crooked photo, and much better at catching it in post if missed, but yet and still, I'm fully capable of taking a crooked pic, and completely missing it in post. I still recall a photo of my son shooting pool and a fellow Hogger asking how the balls didn't all roll to one side. Wow, how could I miss that?

I think ones brain automatically corrects for this nonsense. Tilt your head and look at the horizon. It should tilt, like it would with your camera, but your brain "fixes" it for you.

I will say today I'm pretty good at finding this fault in others photo's.

YES, this is my biggest gripe as well. There is seldom a good reason for this, most all the time full screen looks a hundred times better, yet people insist on shooting in portrait mode with their cell phones, no matter what the subject. Even YouTube has something now they call shorts, and they are all short video's shot in portrait mode, making most of your HD TV screen blank. Stupid I say and is definitely a BIG gripe of mine.

Just get used to tilting your head when viewing pictures.

My biggest gripe is when I come to UHH and ask a question.
First answers are the people that want to try and make you feel stupid.
Then comes the questions , why do I want a new lens a new camera etc dont I know how expensive they are?
Then the ones that answer some other question that I didnt ask.
Then the people that berate you, because you bought a nikon, sony,Canon etc....
Next comes the answers that you know are wrong,
Then comes the people arguing with the people that put up the wrong answer .
Finally, yeah, some guy has the correct answer. I follow thru and yup its the right answer...

and last are all the people that tell they guy with the right answer he is wrong . Because they shot film in the 40's and 50's and thats not how we did it.

and not level horizons makes me shake me shake my head and say why? you ruined a pic by not leveling it....
I can keep going but im sure you want to get to the next response ....

Poor spelling and or grammar. Mine is far from perfect but changing the “breaks” on a car is a prime example. Or hearing the wife wine about not having any whine. And writing like people text. 2 instead of to-too. My biggest gripe in the auto spell on phones like mine. I type in Tamron and it changes it to tampon. In fact I had to respell changes because it changed it to “changers.” And just then it changed fact to facts. I think my phone is out to get me.

My biggest gripe is a photo with too much sky or space at the top or bottom. Too much space takes away from the subject; less space makes the subject more prevalent in the photo.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those people that can't see a horizon that is slightly out of level; it has to be pretty obvious for me to spot so I try to use the leveling feature on my tripod.

Actually, you are far from alone. Even many who look at a photo and know something is wrong with it do not recognize that at least subliminally they are noticing the skew. I suppose the human mind simply prefers x and y to be horizontal and vertical.

My gripe is someone posted a question then others asked the OP a question to verify some facts but the OP would never answer. It makes me feel that the one posted the question feel the he/she can ask but no being asked.

That's mine also, John. The problem is that it's not right to correct every one that does it (unless they ask). It is surprising the number of folks that have a great photo only to be ruined by being off ever so slightly. I'm by far not a great photographer but I strive for straight horizons. I'm the same with framed pictures around the house. Thanks for bringing this up John...good to get off my chest.

How about not correcting, but making suggestions for improvement? No one should object to that.

Cell phone videos taken vertically instead of horizontally. The viewer is forced to watch the camera quickly pan left and right to get the entire subject in. We are generations into viewing motion pictures and tv in a horizontal mode and we continue to hold our cell phones vertically. Then we are forced to watch footage on tv with the huge black space on either side. What don't people get? Alright, enough of the rant.

On the personal level, especially photography, nothing. I may not personally like something but it may be their situation, or inadequate tool. And each person has his own like and method that makes them happy so I have nothing against all that.
Even for my own stuffs, I try to start with a fresh slate to see things for what they are without bias.

But on the global scale, quite a lot.

I abhore the business of overating products and the blind followers these businesses creates.
IE, if given as gift I would appreciate it but I will never buy for myself the following:
De beers diamonds, Glock, Apple, Van gogh(the likes and most modern art), etc.

I forsake any form of cheating specially for personal & monetary gain, so no support for any fake products or people who cheats. I.E. most basketball players, fake/overhyped martial arts/self defense classes and fake religions.

My last gripe are people who hide behind jokes to intimidate, belittle or bully others. They are wolves in sheep clothing and most of them will not not accept themselves to be wrong.
Not accepting fault thereby doing the wrong thing over and over, hurting others again and again. Correcting the problem always start with accepting the fault. To not realize ones fault is to never change and never improve.

Just to clear, Some of them are great products. It is about their business strategy. And I avoid hating people personally. It's about the wrong actions they do and stand for.
