Holiday photo suggestions from Photography blog

I was reading this and had some concerns. I do like that they say to print the photos. I too avoid the flash but have a fast lens to avoid the high ISO when shooting in low light. I do not like results from higher ISO personally. But that is me...

I like the suggestions from this blog, but like so many suggestions I find here and there and everywhere, some I'll never use, some I may or may not try out, and some become keepers.

I don't like the higher ISO either, but I find that going from 200 (camera's recommended speed) to 400 doesn't make much difference in noise and does allow for shorter exposure.
