Jim, I like sunsets and I have a tendency to expose in such a way that the foreground is usually dark with no details. If details are desirable in the foreground then a good choice is to use HDR photography to extend the dynamic range and preserve the colors in the sky.
In this case the road to the right is visible along with the house to the left and the bright spot just over the road to the right acts as a distraction and should be cloned. That is my humble interpretation of the scene.
