Rain finally stopped, so I went down to Old Sac to see how high the river had risen...
The carousel horse was an added bonus in passing.
So, how high did it risen?

I really like all your photos you posted. I left Sacramento in 1970 when I joined the Navy and after I Retired I stayed on the East Coast. (Love Connecticut). My last visit in 2015 my sister took my dad and me to old Sac. What a great job they did there, form the rundown section of Sacramento to this fabulous tourist section. We ate at (I think) the crab shack and sat on the back eating area overlooking the river and I took the same shots of the 16th St bridge and the surrounding buildings. The perspective looks almost exactly like the ones I took except for the river level. Thank you. PS. The Train Museum is wonderful.
Beautiful photo's.

Glad the photos brought back fond memories. We have belonged to.the Railroad museum since 1990.
Very nice tour, Jim! I hope the river rising is good for your area.

The last level of the Sacramento River at the bridge was 26.7 feet.
The weirs will be opened at 29.85 feet. Lots of water...
A few breaches of the levee near Wilton.

We needed the water and we are getting a little break now. Mornings are in low 30s and high in mid 50s. Thanks for taking alook Mike.
Oops. I've been down around that area of the first image and ran along the paths along the river further upstream. As I remember, that trail gets down close to the river in certain points. They must now be underwater?

Most trails are flooded or very muddy. Humbug Creek Trail in Folsom, CA overflowed with water following the dangerous thunderstorm that swept across Northern California.

Those not familiar with Sacramento may look at these pictures and fail to realize just how abnormally high the river is. Sacramento was saved because it was bone dry before the massive rain, and the ground and reservoirs upstream could absorb a lot of water. If we get another weeks-long deluge in the near future, Sacramento and surrounding areas could be in trouble. There is also concern about the many feet of snow now in the Sierra Nevada. The snow melt may be too much for the reservoirs and rivers to handle, depending on the weather as things warm up.
Very nice pictures.

Thanks for taking a look therwol. Yes, we could get in some big trouble. Flooding and breached levees are a big concern.
