The geese don't seem to go as far as as they used to. Or at least I don't feel they do.

Thanks, I have been been to this spot every so often. First time I have seen geese here. In the spring an summer there is a swan pair who have their chicks at this site.

You're right Frank, they don't. Changes in habitat coupled with humans handing out popcorn and bread has made migration unnecessary in many locations.

When I was a kid, we almost never saw a goose. Now? Everywhere imaginable! They don't seem to go far because this (wherever) is their home grounds now.

I live in Anamosa, IA. The Wapsipinicon River runs alongside it. Often when the temperature is below freezing, geese gather below the dam, because of the open water. We have so far had an unusually, mild winter. The river is open and there are no geese to be found. I have seen days in the past where there have been up to 500 of them there.

I totally agree. I would occasionally see them flying south, when I was growing up.

Mild here in NJ. But didn't doesn't seem to matter what the temperature, they are around.
