As I recall, it was unleaded premium gasoline.

Cool image
White Gas contained no lead and was use mainly for Lantern, camping stove fuel and the old brass Blowtorches, and many more things. I ran out of gas in my wrecker one time and I had 5 gals of white gas I had just purchased, I made it to the next gas station, but the engine knocked like someone left a hammer bin it. It was also much cheaper than leaded gasoline, at the time it was approx. .020 P/G Reg.leaded was $.045
Today you pay $5.00 per gal. for Colman fuel "white gasoline"

Great find and shot. I am one of the few survivors of my generation who use White Gas as a cleaning solvent. We would have Gas Wars at the station I worked at after school in 1960. We actually got to 16.9 for ethyl.

Gasoline, white or otherwise was, and is, dangerous as a cleaning agent. My father's first wife died, and her mother was badly injured, due to an explosion and fire in their home that resulted from them using gas for cleaning something.

Yep, I knew it was unsafe even then but you use what you can afford. Being young, indestructible and knowing it all probably had something to do with it too.

In the grand scheme of things, 85 cents wasn't that long ago I remember my dad buying gas for 22 cents a gallon and swearing about how he was getting gouged! A cool find on your part 🤎🤎🥇🤎🤎

Yeah, I tend to round off. I still remember two eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and coffee for a dollar, as well. Maybe $.99. There are some things to be said about the old days. Happy days!

When I was in Thailand my house had teak floors. (teak forest nearby) I never concerned myself with the care or cleaning, as I had a "house girl". I went home early one day and she was cleaning and waxing the floor. On her hands and knees with paraffin melted on an open flame and mixed with kerosene!
