My subject died, still have him, could use some advice

I had my window open at work and found this guy on my desk. Scooped him up into a empty pill bottle to shoot at home. He did not make it alive. I really did not know what I was going to do if he was still alive other then release him in my large photo cube and jam myself in the hole to prevent him escaping.

I could use some ideas on how to stage him for a real shot. These are my "Oh Darn" pics to get a good look at what he looks like. I thought about running a pin through a leaf out doors and skewer him on the tip. I can't do anything to open his legs. I may just toss him.

If he's "freshly dead" (remember "The Young Frankenstein"?), I would skewer him and shoot his eyes from a straight on perspective. I would use "focus stacking" and then crop the final image for the eyes only.

This is also a good opportunity to try different backgrounds. Your plain white background here is biasing your exposure, and degrading your subject detail.

I use printed pictures of flowers to set the dead ones on, that way they look like they are in their natural environment. Only real problem is the pixels some times are shown to vividly so I'll soften the background in lightroom
