I hope everyone is using smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com. Same products and prices, but on qualified products, Amazon donates 0.5% to your favorite charity. Doesn't sound like much, but they have donated $377,000.00 since 2013 when it began. I get reports on how much Shriner's Hospital for Children has received for the reporting period. It adds up when combined with others.

Me too. No difference in the shopping experience so it makes sense to allow Amazon to donate to your favorite charity.

Didn't know this. Thanks for posting n4jee. Any idea what "qualified products" are?

Received mail from Amazon Smile tonight - short version is:

Dear customer,

In 2013, we launched AmazonSmile to make it easier for customers to support their favorite charities. However, after almost a decade, the program has not grown to create the impact that we had originally hoped. With so many eligible organizations—more than 1 million globally—our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin.

We are writing to let you know that we plan to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023...

Too bad. If they were select a small list of charities, people would complain that their favorite wasn't included. "Winding down" will also help Amazon's bottom line.

Amazon has decided this program is ending in Feb. '23. They will continue to contributions to charities of their choice after.

I wonder what they mean by that. I hope that doesn't involve people running for office.
