Interesting Problem – My Nikon D850 is skipping every other f\stop and speed (up or down). Speed example – 500-1000-2000-4000 (forward or backward). f\Stop 5.6-8-11. This is not the full range of either speed or aperture (lens dependent) but the pattern is the same in all cases. Maybe this will help. Bracketing is set to 0, ISO auto or not has no impact, prime or zoom lens makes no difference, WB is Auto1, M\A\S makes no difference respectively. I have checked the various settings in Menu and cannot find where this could have occurred except to say it is the body and not the lens settings. Internet search “d850 skipping speeds and stops” and similar produced no hit. Any suggestions? Thanks as always. Cliff

Consider a there-button reset. Remove battery first. Ensure full charge n the battery.

Could actually be a bad contact in the battery or do you have a grip? I had a similar issue and the grip wasnt tight or seated properly.

There will be a menu setting somewhere that determines the size of the increments of the exposure adjustments. It's possible that you're used to using increments of 1/3 stop but you've inadvertently changed it to 1/2 stop increments (or possibly larger increments if that's an option).

Very interesting.
As other post said check menu for steps chosen.

AND THE WINNER IS RG. Menu B2 setting (somehow changed) was 1/ instead of 1/3.

THANK YOU TO ALL

Cliff--in the Custom Setting Menu, section b (Metering and Exposure), the second entry (b2) gives you the option to set the f/stop increment. This is where you should be able to fix the problem. If that doesn't work, there may be a problem associated with either the Command or Sub-Command wheel.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well since the examples you posted were all full stop differences.

Glad you got it reset properly

I think he changed it to full stop increment. I don't think the Nikon support 1/2 stop.
I think it's setting b2: EV Step for Exposure Cntrl.

The choices are 1 stop, 1/2 stop, or 1/3 stop.

Thanks and that means I have some memorize to do. I know all the aperture and shutter speed values in 1/3 stop and of course full stop but I don't know them in 1/2 stop. I think I have some work to do.

My thoughts exactly. It could be as simple as this.

Cheers and best to you
