Very good. I use a D500, so not familiar with prerelease, are the center two photos the result of prerelease?
...well, they *all* are, technically. I'm shooting at 30fps, the camera is saving images at that rate when I half press the "shutter" button (in quotes cuz the Z9 has no shutter...it's voodoo) so when the bird takes off I press the button. If I'm quick enough (within a third of a second, which is what I selected) the saved images include pretty much what you're looking at. Basically, at that frame rate the camera gives me 10 shots "pre-release"...a mechanical time machine!
Thanks for the information. I’ve noticed the marked increase in really sharp BIF images such as yours and others in UH as the trend toward mirrorless cameras started. That GAS itch is increasing with the images displayed here!
