Susan, I am so sorry that I missed your birthday. I spent 7 hours in A & E after falling UP the stairs. Yes, I have to be different. I fell up the stairs. Ended up with one foot on the last step, my poor arthritic knees landed up on the landing, and my upper torso went splat on the top floor. In 81 years I had never had a nosebleed or broken anything. I had to wait until I was on blood thinners, didn't I?

I bwoke by dose.

Blood pouring out and I was alone. Within half an hour of trying to ring Alan and Harley, who were on their way to Eastbourne, and actually getting hold of Merlin who was walking along the river in Shreham with Sarah and Eric, I had 5 people, 3 generations, at my side. I love my family. Alan then sat beside me for 7 hours of boredom in A & E.

I was eventually seen by a doctor who explained that I must be careful while on blood thinners (like I threw myself up the stairs deliberately?).

I then had a CAT scan and they found no blood, but they did find a brain. Who knew?

Today I ache everywhere and have a slightly bent, rather Roman, nose.

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 6:53 am EST and -10'C (14'F). It's cloudy at the moment, but all the weather channels are warning us of a big storm coming from the Rockies with 15 cm (6 inches) of snow followed by an extended period of ice.
Mum has gone to her friend's Chris after Chris had hip replacement. Chris's daughter couldn't get off work for a couple of days so mum is there now. She was late leaving because she thought it was Sunday because I wasn't sitting at my home desk ON A HOLIDAY! Mum had been on her tablet all morning and the tablet says what day it is on the welcome screen.
Yesterday was Family Day. We didn't do anything and didn't hear from any of our extended family, so, normal for my family.
DD ran out of bread so I brought the breadmaker up from the basement to make a loaf while the oven was busy roasting a chicken. I had to open a new jar of yeast. Well, it was really potent because the bread overflowed the pan and ran down onto the cooking element and covered the vent. I caught it when I smelled burnt toast. I dumped the partially cooked bread into a regular pan and chucked it into the oven with the chicken. We ended up with a tasty but weird looking loaf. After cleaning up the breadmaker I started another loaf, (half the size) because the weird loaf couldn't be put in the toast popper.
Premier Doug Ford is being grilling at Parliament over his close friendship with the developers who want to put mega-mansions in the greenbelt. There will also be lots of questions about the premier's plan to privatize health care in this province. Ford lived in the US for a while and he likes their system better, but he has money.
The governor of the Bank of Canada will not be raising the interest rates this week, but he will next week. He really wants the top 10 to have a 10% return on their investments. We're half way there right now. Although our job market is still doing well, food prices have started to stop climbing as other countries are starting to send us their harvests. Lettuce has dropped from $9 per head to $3. And, of course, all the distributors dropped the prices (they work together to set prices) so all the stores had the same prices for lettuce.
I found out that about 1 foot of my sock yarn is not set. It is a yellow colour and my hands and my pants were covered with the yellow colour. I was able to get most of the yellow out of the pants but I can still see the yellow in bright light. It's really too bad because the yellow colour is a nice pop of colour on the yarn. There was another foot of this same colour earlier and it was set properly. I don't know what happened with this foot of yarn. I'll give it a vinegar bath when I soak the finished socks and hopefully I won't lose too much of the lovely colour from this section.

You had me in stitches reading about your bread. Alan did that once, but put the bread in the oven. It grew so high that it embedded itself in the bars above it. Took a while to dislodge it.

Good morning all from a lot cooler (2C) and dampish Norfolk. The sun did try to come out but it looks as though it's given up. Got a food delivery this morning and that's my excitement for the day. Knitting this afternoon, TV, TM and then bed again, talk about being predictable. You all have a good day, see you later. xx

Good morning from Port Hope Ontario Canada. It is 6:43 am EST and -8'C (18'F). We had hours of light cold rain yesterday instead of snow. Southwestern Ontario and western Lake Ontario got hit by the freezing rain and power outages. It seems the storm split and went north and south of us. We only got about 3" of blowing drifting snow after dark. Several of my neighbours have already driven out of the court even though. The northern part of the storm is forecast to come through this area after lunch, so it doesn't look like I will be going to Knit Night. Maybe I'll run over for lunchtime, if the weather isn't that bad. Several schools zones have announced the schools are closed. There is a squirrel hanging from one of the trees trying to find a clear spot to jump.
Monday I will be sorting backup tapes at work, so I won't be doing any beep tickets that day. 'Cause I'm not doing both. Starting in April, our area will be under renovation. That will make 3 floors of the building under renovation. I would have thought that they would hold off until they get at least one floor finished.
The ladies from my brioche class want a do-over so that is scheduled for next Thursday.

There is a company in Toronto that sells mixed boxes of vegetable with blemishes for $20. These are vegetables with bruises that the grocery stores rejected. Of course, they don't deliver out here.

Have a good predictable day.
I'm going to try to fix the edge on the aran cardi this morning. I've always had problems fixing edges. I may just have to take back some MORE rows.

That would definitely be worse. My biggest worry was the bread covering the vent in the breadmaker.

7 hours in A & E with a broken bleeding nose! Your A & E sounds like our emergency rooms.
When mum was in the emergency room for the anaphylactic shock, I couldn't contact my family either. Then they all called at once.
Falling UP the stairs would be TOTALLY unexpected, except I think we've all done it at some point. I've scuffed my knees. Thankfully nothing worse.
Good to hear you have a functioning brain as revealed by the CAT scan and no internal damage.
So sorry about your poor nose. Take it easy.
