My astronomy club, STAR from NJ, had a zoom speaker who processed images from the WEBB telescope, she was in charge

Sonny, fits is the astronomical standard format for imaging . All my buddies use fits format because it isn't compressed and it comes with a header of information for that sub image which is just what you'll need when you score and process your images. Sgp isn't for everyone ,N.I.N.A isn't the only freeware out there , it's what you're more comfortable with. Sonny, you really {NEED} to save your raw data in the fits format. You can always convert it after stacking ,you want to stack your raw data with the most information instead of a fraction of the sum of information you spent hours collecting.
Sonny, fits is the astronomical standard format f... (show quote)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do save my images in FIT files. And I'm working with them in FITs format.
But... you sure can not share a FIT format anywhere. It has to be converted to a tif or png or even a jpg. to use on the web, or to email.
I took a huge step into a FITs commitment when I shelled out for my ASI 1600mm with filter wheel and filters. But I do that sort of thing. Get a tool, then learn to use it.
I have the patience of JOB. (Biblical) But I also work something to death. LOL!

My Baby Dell has finally given up. I can't resurrect it. I've been hammering on it for 4 days. So tonight, and last night, I wasted on trying to beat a dead horse.
The wife told me I sounded frustrated. I told her about my battle with the dying computer and she told me to replace it, it wasn't worth the frustration.
So here we go, replace the danged mount computer again.
But it will get me imaging instead of muleing my stuff out, freezing, then giving up with naught to show for my efforts.

All I want is to take some decent picturds to share.

That sounds great Sonny, beating a dead horse isn't helping. I'd get it ordered you have the go ahead. I love having the house block the majority of the wind and stray light. My data is coming in so much better than I'm used to. I've been fortunate enough to keep going with my ASUS for several years in the extreme cold winter nights in the 20's. I can't wait to see some images from you.

I'll post her name when I get home. She was an art major. She showed steps. Way, way over my head. 6 filters then stretch and then photoshop

Hah!
Asus is what I wound up getting.
I picked it up this morning, and have it ready by this afternoon.
But of course, we have more clouds. Naturally!
May get a break this weekend, though.
But I'm readier now.

I think she's busy, lol
Her lecture is on you tube. She lectured at the Princeton astronomy lecture. Club name is AAAP.
Their site might have the link for her lecture too.

I just picked mine up at 7 AM at Sam's Club.
I got some milk and Dr. Pepper Zero on the way home. (For her and the house.)
Then I spent half the day loading it and setting it up.
Right now it's outside running things.
(And I'm inside where it's warm. )

Sounds great fellas , I just hate the microsoft updates that plague me relentless me after I set it up in settings to download and install updates in the non-active hours. My youngest son bought the ASUS i5 and had it delivered for Fathers day several years ago. He made an excellent decision and it was one hell Uva deal to , before everything under the Sun was priced ridiculously.

Sidewalkastronomy, I'll have to check the website out . I've chatted with several people on astronomy and astrophotography in general . Knowledge is paramount instead OF WINGING IT. Is her name Alyssa Pagan?

6 filters were used in the data that she was describing, I use 7 filters in my efw and the eighth is a dark frame filter . It's ideal for my darks . Well, this girl definitely knew what she was talking about and very thorough on her workflow and software. Thanks for the heads up !
