T***sportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg needs another New Year's resolution: Show up

In the movie “Office Space,” business consultant Bob Slydell asked a useless middle manager, “What would you say … you do here?”

With Southwest Airlines canceling more than 15,000 flights over the holidays, it’s time to pose that question to T***sportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

After dropping out midway through the 2020 Democratic p**********l primary, Buttigieg was rewarded with one of the easiest gigs in the Biden administration. Seriously, how many t***sportation scandals hit the headlines? By its nature, t***sportation pretty much runs itself.

Or it did, until Mayor Pete took over.

Broken supply chains, strikes. Where was Pete?

Shortly after arriving to lead nearly 55,000 T***sportation employees, supply chain issues related to the C****-** p******c snarled freight traffic, damaging businesses, frustrating consumers and fueling inflation. Container ships were bobbing for weeks off the left coast, unable to deposit their stores in the backed-up ports.

The maritime problems have eased a bit, but supply chains remain shaky due to geopolitical tensions, a shortage of truck drivers and limited freight rail capacity. Two years in, and shipments are still getting delayed.

The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, focused on other issues instead, such as ridding America of r****t bridges. Before that, he took a two-month paternity leave.

Throughout Secretary Buttigieg’s tenure, railroads had been unable to reach an agreement with the dozen labor unions representing their workers. By last summer, President Joe Biden jumped in to create a P**********l Emergency Board to forge a compromise.

Because Buttigieg was busy vacationing in Portugal, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh stepped in to avert a rail strike in September. Congress averted another strike threat in December, but neither side was satisfied with the compromise.

That means labor-management relations might hamper rail freight again.

Nearly all Americans faced another t***sportation nightmare beginning in 2021 when fuel prices soared and remain high today. Last month, the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.32. That’s down from the summer highs, but still 37% higher than when Biden entered office.

On that issue, at least, Buttigieg took action: He told cash-strapped Americans to buy electric cars.

Last July 4 weekend, airlines canceled more than 2,200 flights and delayed 25,000. Democrats on Capitol Hill demanded reforms, but the T***sportation secretary did nothing.

That brings us to the past two weeks, when Southwest Airlines canceled thousands of flights, stranding thousands of travelers while their luggage was who knows where. Four days into the mess, Buttigieg wrote a letter. Several days later, Southwest "resumed normal operations."

“Pete, what would you say you do here?”

This gig won't 'pad his resume for President'

Despite positive media treatment, Democrats are increasingly pointing out the unbearable lightness of Buttigieg.

“Nearly six months ago (Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.) & I called for Buttigieg to implement fines & penalties on airlines for cancelling flights,” Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., posted to Twitter on Dec. 29. “Why were these recommendations not followed? This mess with Southwest could have been avoided. We need bold action.”

Nina Turner, the former co-chair of Sanders’ 2020 campaign, called Buttigieg “a prime example of failing up.”

“What’s happening with the railroads, airlines & the supply chain,” Turner tweeted, “is a result of a small city mayor being made the Secretary of T***sportation as a means to pad his resume for President.”

If Buttigieg seeks the Oval Office, he might want to, you know, do something at his current job. He has made no major policy changes, was caught off-guard by several disasters and did nothing to fix them once they hit. He has shown no signs of making improvements over the next two years.

I have one suggestion Buttigieg could adopt as a New Year resolution: Maybe show up at the office now and then.

Come on now. Stop being unreasonable. For a democrat all that huge salary is just for being. Don't be expecting any unreasonable things like actually working or earning the salary from democrats.

The sole thing that Buttigeig does here is to bring diversity, equity, inclusion, and Green New Deal wokeness to solving t***sportation problems.

In the movie “Office Space,” business consultant B... (show quote)

This swarmy little twit has replaced James G. Watt as the Absolute Worst Cabinet Choice Ever! Watt was Reagan's Sec. of the Interior who pissed off the entire western region all by himself. Biden's mental corruption has turned the T***sportation Dept. into a Chinese fire drill. Our southern border crisis is the only thing that allows Buttibutt to remain in office. Biden & Co. have turned El Paso into The Third Reich to keep the nation's attention away from his other problems like Southwest Airlines. After their recent melt-down I am amazed that they still retain their Certificate. That fact shows the total disregard for America's way of life. Biden's ridiculous policies have: Allowed C***d to reach epidemic proportions, Destroyed our economy, Refused to keep our borders safe from invasion, and Ruined a nearly perfect t***sportation industry. One of my pet peeves from my days in the airline business was the fact that an airline can legally cancel a flight is for one of only two reasons: Weather and Maintenance! Nothing was ever allowed to include "no flight crew members available." Under a reliable administration the Sec. of T***sportation would have been fired on the spot for his failure to perform.

I'm sure Mr. Newman could do the same stellar job as Pete for far less money.
