While looking for a tool I had mislaid I found this rock, with nothing else to do I shot a few images.
All three images are focus stacked, images 2#3 have 3mm an led inserted in a hole in the foam core back ground.
Last year I was doing a project where I need colored leds, I ended up with a lifetime supply of leds!!

Rather interesting final results. I am curious, were you trying to create an "outer space" image depicting two planets? And you needed a focus stack to get both the rock and the LED in focus (as opposed to stopping your lens way down to say f/22 - the abstract look of the rock would not show diffraction).

Thank you very much Lamiaceae
I was just messing around
I always shoot with my lens stopped down and have never had any trouble with diffraction, these images were shot at f45

Very interesting composition, Frank. I kept looking at it over and over again.

You may recall that while astrophysicists we praising some photos of extremely distant galaxies, some other scientist took an extreme macro shot of a slice of salami (?) that looked very similar.

Manglesphoto, This shows that we should not take all rocks for granite.😜

Personally, I have rarely if ever noticed any diffraction issues with my own images. What lens were you using that goes to f/45? I have film 4x5" View Camera lenses that go to f/45 or f/64, but for my 35mm film and digital cameras only macro lenses to f/32.
