I'm going to take your "encounters" with animals a bit literally.
I didn't take these pictures but they were taken from a video that the tour took. I'm pretty sure the first person is me and the second is my sister. They swam toward you and I tried to act like other manatees, rolling and grazing them as they seemed to float by.

Those “White Thoated Sparrows” apparently winter just south of us and breed just north of us. I have seen one once - it made a food stop in our yard during 2021 migration season. Those yellow markings by their eyes are very memorable if you ever see one - but it took time for me to identify it.

listen for their song very different than other birds~you can look up sounds on audubon website
