It was closed due to damage from Hurricane Ian when we last went there. Yesterday it was open so, although a beautiful day and the weekend which we expected would mean a big crowd, we went back. There was a big crowd, the biggest we have ever seen there. But we persevered. Just so we would have something to post for the big crowd at UHH!
It was more than damaged from Ian. It was nearly destroyed! Many, many trees down. Widespread flooding. The weir where most of our great shots have come from there is gone! We didn't see any Deer, Turkeys, Pigs, Turtles, etc.
We were very disappointed.
But we still managed to get a few photos.
Gators are still there. If you can make sense out of this jumble of monsters, you are a better puzzle doer than I am!!
Limpkins were numerous. Note this guy beating the heck out of a clam to open him up.
And some Yellow Rumped Warblers, I think. Maybe?

Fantastic set of images!!
I was there about five years ago. Got great shots of Sandhills cranes. They were all over the place. Went back a year later and there were none.

That's interesting. We've been several times over the last few years. Never seen any Sandhill Cranes there. But there are a lot of them here in Florida right now.
