What a disappointment...

First, let me tell you a little story. On the Saturday night before Halloween, I went to take my DJI Air 2s up and fly a couple of a blocks to a rather amazing Halloween display that I thought would be great to photograph at night via my drone. It would not take off. The controller displayed an error message, "error 30064 unable to take off". What??? I'll make this short. I did not get it. I never crashed. I missed the landing pad once by about a foot. That was not a deal. I tried everything I could think of to get back in the air but to no avail.

Halloween came and went and I still could not get it to even turn the motors on. I went on the internet and this problem seemed to be known for quite some time. I had to hurry. Warranty would be up on 9, December, 2022.

I finally called DJI. The phone # showed up to be in California, but the people I spoke with had very heavy accents and at times, difficult to understand. Funny, but this did not really matter. They tried very hard to help me with my problem including updating the firmware with updates not even shown on their website. Nothing. They finally sent me a repair order. I sent it in and they went to work straight away and kept my up to date constantly. They finally gave up and sent me sent me a new drone at no charge even though I had used it extensively. This was all done within a matter of days. I was impressed. I think their service was excellent. They even offered me an add on warranty for the new unit that included replacement for up to 2 crashes and 1 run away for 1 year. All for $100.00. I took the deal.

So, now for today's photo. I thought that it would be great to put it up at midnight of New Year's Eve, thinking that I would see some great fireworks. Nothing. Lots of explosions and noise, but nothing airborne. Hence, my disappointment. I did take a few pics and a video. Here is one of those photos.

Right before midnight. looking to my north.

Drones are fun machines - You had great customer service. What brand do you have?

Drones are really fun but they can be difficult. Great to hear about the great service from DJI as I own one also.

Yes they can be. Even though I have years and years of experience flying RC aircraft, I have occasionally gotten myself into a bind. And yes, I was pleasantly surprised by their service. I also had another concern. early on. For some reason, I would on occasion while up in the air, get an error message, "gimble motor overheated". It was annoying. However, I was able to clear it simply by resetting the center point while on the fly. I looked that one up on the internet also. Others seemed to have the same problem. None of their suggestions worked. I wonder if this new unit will have the same problem?
