For some reason, everything I've ordered from Amazon for about three weeks has taken a week to get here. They were virtually all Prime products, yet delivery takes a week. Like today - Thursday to Thursday for three different items. They are all in stock, and they are all Prime. This happened a few months ago, and then it got straightened out. Still, it's better than an hour's drive into town and back going from store to store trying to find what I want. It would be nice if they would explain the delay.
An item from today, for example: Order within 13 hours, and receive it on January 13. Odd.

Not everything on Prime is available 'next day'... But if you think you're having problems talk with Customer Services, they may be able to help?

As long as I receive it when they say I will, I'll live with it. The order scheduled for today arrived last night, so that was nice. One item was a new bed for my dog. It came vacuum packed in a thin package. When I opened the pouch, it became huge. He loves it.
For the most part, Amazon's initial delivery estimates are pretty accurate. In the last two weeks we've had several items that arrived the day before that estimate, one that arrived on the original estimated date, and one that arrived two days later, which was probably delayed due to weather.

It could be they are experiencing driver shortages as well as weather issues.
In this area a new Amazon distribution center is being built but they have already started using their own delivery drivers plus some local delivery companies. This moves the majority of my deliveries from USPS to them which has been great so far.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you will continue to receive your packages on time with the hope that they return to their previous schedule soon.

FWIW, Amazon is in the process of laying off workers, up to around 18,000 of them overall according to the Wall Street Journal, but I think they're not delivery drivers.
But they employ around 1.5 million people.
Next day delivery on Prime will eventually become rarer and rarer. I'm a big Amazin buyer with 2 daughters in my house and delivery dates being pushed back are not that uncommon. Jeff Bezos is coming back to run Amazon as their stock price dropped recently. I heard it on the radio this morning.

Then why are you complaining, if there is a problem you should let them know so it can be sorted out?
Amazon is closing several Warehouse locations
[ at least 2 in Baltimore]
That may impact product availability and delivery...

The kids were here for Christmas and when we had something to clean up I brought out a brush that I got from Amazon that attaches to my drill. It makes it fairly easy to clean things off the rug or furniture. They thought that was interesting so I ordered one to be sent to them half a continent away at their home. Since they were here for Christmas I chose the option for delivery Dec 28, when they would be back home. The next day (Dec 19) I got an email from Amazon that it had been delivered.
They had a neighbor collecting deliveries from their porch so it wasn't a problem, but delivery delays are sometimes negative.

I heard Amazon was laying off something like 18,000 employees. I guess they looked at the speed of delivery with x-number of employees vs. the speed of delivery with y-number of employees and found the latter was more profitable. Everything these mega companies do is profit based.

Isn't making profit the whole idea of being in business?
No profit, no business, no employees at all!

Maybe they shipped it on Southwest Airlines that day. With over 2500 flight cancellations, I wonder how many deliveries got delayed.

I'll live with it just like I'll live with aging ungracefully, but I don't have to be happy about it. Amazon knows their deliveries have slowed down. I don't have to tell them. Fortunately, Amazon isn't the only show in town. Others provide faster shipping. B&H is overnight. Sometimes a delivery time of over a week will keep me from ordering.
