The first one may not load. If not, go to Youtube and ask for Tony Northrup, then scroll down to where it shows the program titled "Are Jpegs really worse?" There is a line at the bottom of the video where you can scroll to the parts you want. I think the discussion about Jpeg vs. RAW is interesting although a couple of other people have videos that rebuke the Northrups view of how this subject was presented this topic. In the same video though are discussions about f8 and turning off image stabilization when shooting from a tripod.

The other video I felt was very interesting. It listed lies (or partial truths) that camera mfgs. use in selling their products that can be very misleading. If you have to go to the Youtube menu again, key in Tony Northrup and scroll down to "5 lies Camera Companies Tell You". It seems all camera companies do this, so what can you believe?

Just pay no mind to Tony's personal comments and opinions, he may be a good photographer and is usually pretty good with gear, but he sometimes says things he really should keep off camera.

I haven't watched the JPEG on yet, but I know that they make perfectly good images. I just like processing, and raw give me more leeway. Besides, raw is an available option.

The "Lies" video is an old one. It's a good one, though. I think people latch onto these lies as a justification for buying something new. Is there a company that doesn't lie to create sales?

Companies don't lie, they use "marketing" to promote themselves and their products.

It is probably the PR/Advertising departments exaggerating things to up the sales.
I will bet that most of the engineers who designed and supervise the manufacturing, if they even notice it, are cringing over some of the PR stuff.

They don't really lie. They embellish and exaggerate to some extent and make certain things sound far more important or impressive than they truly are and place emphasis on certain things like high megapixels. They don't really lie as in stating falsehoods or claiming their products will do something that it is indeed incapable of doing, because these things will get them sued, at least here in the litigation happy USA. Sure, there are bad people out there who operate or work for bad companies, but their reputations become well known and eventually the sucker pool runs dry. Well, I'll shut up now, I've got to go pick up my latest purchase from Abe's of Maine.

You should go to Abe of Maine to pickup you purchase and not have them ship to you. I think when you get there you they probably do not sell to you in person.

Is this ridiculous "discussion" never going to go away?

No because new people who haven't seen it before keep coming along. Strange how new humans keep getting made, isn't it?

Over thirty years teaching 7th through 12th grade at different schools so I can remember getting the same questions over and over.
A few of those students I had more than once for a different class.

The same questions, year after year, multiple periods a day.
You get used to it.

I'm guessing you don't quite grasp the purpose of these social media web sites!
