When visiting my wife's old stomping grounds, I like to drive down a certain gravel road. It has this pretty little creek with cypress trees (and knees) in, and along its banks. I did not plan on stopping, as we had five grand-kids in the van. Our oldest grandson shouted "there's a blue heron"! So, I stopped, grabbed my camera, and went to look. Of course the heron was gone. But, a movement in the water caught my eye, just a ripple in the otherwise still water. Taking a moment to get a closer look, what was it? An animal, long, slender, and furry. At first I thought maybe an otter. Then, maybe not! This was my 1st time to see a mink in the wild. And it was coming towards us! It saw us, but showed no fear, nor much concern. It was obviously curious about us. Eventually the mink came within 10 feet ou us, climbing on a log that was jammed against the bridge, about 4-6 feet below the edge of the bridge side. Looking at us, it decided to be indifferent, and went on about life's business. You just never know what you may find, or see down a dirt road!
I love to 'explore', and often take the 'road less traveled'. And particularly the one's we have never traveled. My wife often says "What have you gotten us into now"!
As a bonus, this mink WALKED ON the WATER! See 4th one down... it just happens to be the solid form of water, along the edge of the creek..

Thanks for the very nice comment! I was delighted to get these photos! I missed the mink walking on the ice the 1st 2 or 3 times looking at the photos (These are cropped). The ripples/waves coming away from the ice are neat, I think.
