Snowfall in the Burro Mountains, and a trail cam visitor

I found a window between snowstorms this morning, so I went out to the Burro Mountains southwest of where I live. I have a trail camera in a canyon near the Continental Divide Trail that runs through those hills, and I have shared scenes from the area before, but rarely does it look like this!

I believe this mountain lion is the same one who has sauntered past the camera two or three times before. I'm guessing it's a young female but I'm no expert on lions. He/she could stand a little more meat on the bones.

I hope you enjoy these relatively rare glimpses of this part of New Mexico under several inches of snow, and that 2023 is off to a good start for all of you. It is for me: I am now officially semi-retired.

Beautiful photos!! I love #3 and #8 and, of course, the "kitty" photos!! Congratulations on the beautiful snow. It's upper 60's here.

Love seeing that potential moisture. Nothing here. Snow is only in the high mountains.

Really nice, Feral! I think you're right about the photos of the same Mountain Lion. Same markings anyway. That's one animal I've never seen in the wild. Still hoping!!

The snow adds a wonderful touch to your excellent photography! I know the energy that hiking through such snow takes, so thanks again for taking us on your journey and those trail cams that you maintain.
