This weekly challenge is "The Serenity of Winter"

Just about everyone knows how relentlessly brutal and depressing Winter can be. I am not a fan at all! But to keep this particular season from getting me really down, I push myself outside in order to take some shots of the underlying beauty that is still all around. It just needs to be sought out with a little more focus and determination!

When my own focus lies elsewhere than on just myself, I end up feeling better - even when icy winds are howling at my doorstep. I make sure I regularly get out with the camera to capture the beauty. This experience is soothing and serene. It makes Winter’s bite seem less severe.

Herein, please post images illustrating what “the serenity of winter” means to you! Enjoy yourselves - and stay cozy no matter what….

Joe, this is a wonderful start. I especially like the number one and seven photos. Walking around in the winter always seems quieter than other seasons. I'll try to gather a few of my examples to post.

Day one for winter serenity. Here are a few, some from places where snow is unexpected, but interesting to see when it happens.

Really eye catching photos ... esp #7, the path with log rails , made me stop and stare.

I like that farm, Karin. To me it looks the most serene.

Nice pics. I haven’t been to Brandywine since they started work on repairs last summer. We need to get back there. 😊

Taken in march just after the "Blizzard of '93" with my trusty old Pentax K1000. He was a very large German shepherd, and he is standing up in this picture.

Such a sweet puppy! (They’re all puppies to me. 😊). Wonderful memory.

Here are three. The first was taken nearly 60 years ago, the second about 25 years ago and the last recently.

They were taken in Lucerne, Switzerland; on Goose Lake trail in Anchorage, Alaska; and in my yard.

Lovely pics. 😊
