We've discussed this here before. I bought a bag of sugar this morning. Now, it's a four-pound bag. Remember when it was a five-pound bag?

That explains why the Fish Market is now a Bait Shop.

Jerry, the store is just looking out for you. It's not really inflation, it's the diet version. Just think of how many calories they removed by cutting off a pound of sugar.

Actually I was in a fish store and a bait and tackle shop just the other day and it was extremely easy to tell the difference. The bait and tackle shop smelled a lot better.

I'd like to make Christmas cookies, and we're low on sugar. I missed this year, so I'm going to make a few dozen in honor of Christmas 2023.

It's been a 4lb bag for more than 10 years.

Us old timers have difficulty remembering the exact dates of specific events because there have been so many of them in our life. You young folks have it easy because you don’t have that much to remember. Or that drug and alcohol use obliterated most of the pre-use memories.

I remember when a “pound” can of refrigerant was 16 ounces, then 14 and now 12. But then again I remember when you could buy potatoes retail by the hundred weight.

Guess it all to do with health and safety and someone has deemed that 5lb bags a too heavy for the average person to lift safely. 😂😂

I used to go to the grocery store and buy smelts or squid for bait, cheaper than the bait shop and larger, cut the squid and freeze, had to listen to my wife about it though, smelts were already frozen just cut in half before leaving the house.

The only time the sugar gets used is when we have company and when I make something that requires sugar.

When I was a kid, I lived near the water, and my mother would ask for fish heads at the supermarket. They worked great in the crab trap.

Propane tanks for the grill used to be called 20 pound bottles. Now they are 15 pound and the price is higher too.

Around here the exchange tanks are 15 lbs, no one fills in the city anymore, upstate the exchange tanks are still 15 lbs but a mile down the road there is a shop that fills them for you, get 20 lbs and a lower price.
