The DA in Bay Shore, NY, is a republican. Long Island is generally republican. Hammurabi (correct spelling) might have believed cutting off a hand was appropriate, but we tend to be more civilized than than. Most of us. Jesus taught us 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.'

The eye for an eye quote is so misrepresented these days.

As long as these district attorneys are soft on crime this will continue. I believe in King Hammubari's code an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth. In the case of stolen items off a porch when they are caught cut off one hand.

sorry, I never felt this way in the past but enough is enough.

Deliveries are usually photographed where they left it. With that photo I would file fifth charges against my neighbor. Take a photo of his porch compared to the one they sent you and that proves it was left at his house.

You also have the GPS showing their house. Either way I'd file theft charges against your neighbor get the GPS information file the police report first.
Good luck.

Completely ridiculous. First, only Amazon takes photos and not always. Second, even if you had a photo of it at the neighbors it proves no guilt and the neighbor bears no responsibility. The only thing it would prove is that the USPS has culpability for delivering to the wrong address.

Hammurabi's code wasn't a prescribed penalty, it gave the maximum penalty. If the perpetrator put out your eye, the most severe punishment allowed would be to put out his eye.

And it also depended on whose eye was put out. Only if it was a nobleman would it be an eye. If it was a commoner you would just pay him. If it was a slave you would pay the owner half the value of the slave. They weren’t big on equality back then.

Based on my experiences with Ebay it is probably origin. That way they can use the "I know nothing!" call the seller excuse for doing nothing.

Those sentences make no sense.

He means FOB Origin (the title to the goods passes to the buyer when it leaves the seller’s dock, and the buyer is responsible for anything that happens afterward including transportation, insurance and any claims for lost or damaged goods)

You have it backwards; the seller is responsible for contracting the shipper, and making insurance claims with the shipper if anything goes wrong.

And that is why credit card companies will reverse charges if the buyer does not get the item.

Only if insurance is taken out...I do not have it backwards...since that did not occur.

I couldn't agree with you more. Porch pirating is an epidemic!

I live on a 118 acre farm and have a backhoe. Funny thing is we don't have porch pirates out here. I have heard about them though. I guess they are a dying breed in my part of the country

Can’t believe the seller didn’t require a signature for delivery on a higher dollar shipment.

A couple of thoughts as I have bought and sold several cameras and lenses on UHH. All have gone well and everyone is happy. In one instance, however, I paid for a lens using PayPal and the seller claims it had not been deposited in his account. PP verified that it was deposited and, after investigation, it turns out that it was deposited in the account of a person with the same last name but different first. After providing proof of the tranaction the buyer told me, without explanation it was resolved but I suspect it went into a relative’s account. Either way it worked.

When I sell I always provide the UPS or USPS tracking number and encourage the buyer to check it frequently to get an idea when it is expected to arrive. I also have, and encourage others, to subscribe to “Informed delivery” of the USPS. It won’t stop any of the problems and/or thefts but will provide the buyer of a heads-up when the package should arrive.

Wish all my fellow hoggers a happy, healthy New Year!

Contact seller and get Serial number. Police will need this if it's ever recovered. Notify any local pawnshops in case someone brings it it. SN will help there too

But true

Some of you guys really don't get it. Political comments are against the rules other than in the Attic. It is common for threads to be moved to the Attic due to comments by those who opt to "break the rules." The original poster essentially suffers the consequences by having his topic moved to the Attic where his intended audience will never see it.

Had a similar situation for a package from Amazon, last year. Ordered a special Lego kit for my grandson, paid a higher price as it was quite popular and coming from a third party, not Amazon. Checked tracking almost daily and it was marked as delivered. Was not on my porch nor on neighbors, they never got it (they are very trustworthy and honest, been here 25 years). Delivery was by UPS or FedEx. Called and emailed seller. Got the reply that it was delivered but seller nor deliverer would inform me of adderess to which it was delivered. Checked the order number and it was for a totally different item. Could not get any more information from anyone. finally called credit card company, claimed an inappropriate charge, got the refund to the card. Grandson was disappointed but understood.
