An ai is a three-toed sloth. Properly pronounced, it has two syllables. i don't think that one will be undercut.

I suspect there are more than two kinds of lava. Eskimos are reputed to have more than 100 names for different kinds of snow.

On Hawaii, there are two kinds: the chunky kind - Aa, and the smooth kind Pahoehoe.

The Eskimos have maybe fifty words for snow, depending on who you call an Eskimo, and what you consider a word for snow. Where we say "wet snow," "dry snow," and "slush," they have completely different words for each. We have "snow" and "hail" two different words for two different kinds of precipitation.

Wikipedia lists 4 kinds, but only two of them are described by single words.
