The BBC America channel on Spectrum is running an episode showing how the animals in the park survive the winter. It is somewhat ironic that what I see out my window is another "storm of a lifetime" while the wildlife in Yellowstone suffer the same thing every winter. Weather in the park is incredibly awesome in the fall but winter weather is just plain brutal! Then again, "storms of a lifetime" aren't what they used to be. Of the three I've experienced only one lived up to its billing, and it was completely unforeseen. Nobody saw the formation of a mega-blizzard that hit the I-75 corridor from S W Ohio to the bridge in northern Michigan in Feb. 1978, a true "storm of a lifetime." So far, this blizzard has brought only semi-high winds and a foot of snow. Ho Hum! Unfortunately other areas are getting hit harder and worse but we were advised to expect from one to four feet of snow. At least our temperatures haven't bottomed out. My friends "downstate" are much colder than we are, and that is very unusual.
