My wife and I enjoyed an afternoon at PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) plaza in down town Pittsburgh absorbing the holiday festivities. Naturally I took a camera and thought I’d share some of the sights with you. Posting limits prevent showing all of them but I hope you enjoy what's here.
Many may not realize that Glass was one of the first industries in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh glass industry began in 1797 by 1920, 80 percent of the glass made in the country came from the Pittsburgh area. Pittsburgh glass was so well known it was selected to adorn the tables of five U.S. presidents, the windows in the Statue of Liberty’s crown and the tiles lining the inside of the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels in New York.
PPG Place, completed in 1985 and consisting of 6 towering glass buildings, is the showcase for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass company (PPG Inc.) in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh adjacent to the historic market district. At the center is a plaza which in the winter showcases an ice rink and Christmas tree during the season. A number of figures were on display depicting the Christmas tradition from various countries. In some cases I’ve included the description which accompanied the figure.
Have a very merry Christmas!
St. Nicholas, Germany
Contemporary American Santa
St. Stephen, Ireland
Grandfather Frost, Russia
Pere Noel and Pere Fouchette, France
St. Nicholas, Netherlands
Father Christmas, Gr. Britain
Thanks Longshadow.
Something I didn't relaize until I posted these. I looked up guidance on file sizes before generating these which seemed to indicate that 800x600 pixels was prefered which I did. None of them posted with the option to "download" so a viewer could see a larger image; I presume if I hadn't retrained the file sizes that a download option would have been included. Another lesson learned the old fashioned way - from a mistake my MO.

No problem for me...
I don't know what the size cut-off is for whether a thumbnail gets created instead of just displaying the original image. I just click "Store Original" out of habit.
Here's another without the 800x600 pixel constraints just to test my theory but I did have to constrain the file size to something less than 20MB.
