Should've gone out much, much earlier, when high cirrus clouds sat low over the mountains, underlit in pre-dawn shades of red-orange and salmon and looking great, but I didn't. The cats demanded feeding --rorrrrowlllll!-- and I required coffee. And besides; I mistakenly thought I had other plans.
Which were, of course, disrupted.
So after unceremoniously moving my Jeep to a place less likely to be squashed by a tree, and after being informed by a neighbor that power had gone out, and after deciding I really didn't need to be home to experience the results of a tree-trimmer's miscalculated limb drop that might skewer either my roof or me, I grabbed a kit and split. Didn't get far, though, only up and into the Sand Flats area on the opposite side of town.
The attached is all I found.
The good news was that nothing got skewered.

More likely some sort of Girl Scout cookie. Probably with coconut in it. Either way, with the thermamemomonter gauge in my Jeep reading 14 degrees, I thought it best not to stick my tongue on it and get stucked out there in the hinterlands. Who knows how long it would take for somebody to come along and rescue me.
Either that, or it's a long dis-balanced "balanced" rock of the Navajo variety. Which everybody knows are best with some honey drizzled on 'em. Which is an especially tricky thing to do when it's this chilly.
Your good eye continues, Jim!

Late or not you still found a great sky to work with. Wonderful winter portrait!
Your prose is as interesting as your images.

Prose? What prose is that? What I wrote is
poetry!How could
anyone not recognize the iambic pentameter (well, ok, the iambic triameter.... but who's counting?) my ghostwriter wrote when he wrote the phrase "I grabbed a kit and split"? And note, please, the clever internal rhyming 'i' sound that was internally written!
I mean,
Jeeze! Rilly!. How could the obvious be more.... um....... obvious?
Oh, yes, I see it now. I guess. 😆
