Tamron recently updated the firmware for several lenses. I have the 28-75mm and 150-500mm units which are part of the group of lenses with the firmware updates, so I took the plunge.
From my preliminary shots with the updates, I can confirm that the subject tracking has been improved on the Sony E-mount versions of these lenses. It is a noticeable improvement, so if you own this group of lenses, I would recommend that you carry out the upgrade.
Shots taken today in overcast conditions, Mustang Island State Park.
Enjoy the shorebirds - the birds I took with the 28-75mm were quite small in the frame, so I did not include those - trust me, the tracking was excellent.
Most of these are only about 1/6th of the frame, so equivalent to a 4 MP sensor...
Sony A7c Tamron 150-500mm and Tamron 28-75mm. Mostly around f8 - f11.
PP using ON1 RAW 2023 with a small amount of noise reduction and sharpening using ON1 Nonoise AI and ON1 Tac-sharp.

Images look great…. were you having trouble before the upgrade to your lenses? Jus’ curious how that works!

I found that the eye-tracking was a bit sluggish under some lighting conditions. The upgrade seems to have fixed that on both lenses...

Nice shots
Thanks. This upgrade seems to have solved lower-contrast eye-tracking issues...
Best wishes to you and yours for the holiday season.
Really enjoyed those pictures.....
