An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.
The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, "Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again."
The gentleman replied, "Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!
Horace grabbed his plate and walked up to the buffet for the third time.
“Aren’t you embarrassed to go for so many helpings?” asked his wife.
“Not a bit,” Horace replied, “I keep telling them it’s for you.”
When I first got my hearing aids I told several friends that while they seem to work very well, they were a pain in the ass to put in. Finally, a true friend observed that maybe I was placing them in the wrong place.
Two good ones, Samantha!!
BTW: I've worn hearing aids for 46 years. My current pair cost $7200, out of pocket.

Markngolf: While I bought my hearing aids a couple of yeas ago at Costco for less money, I am waiting with interest in what will be, I think, a shaking out in the hearing aid business based on the new Federal laws regarding what is a hearing aid. Cost of hearing devices should drop quite a bit.

An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems ... (
show quote)
My wife just got new hearing aids, so I sent this one to her and told her to take this one to her hearing specialist.
That reminds me that some people who can hear elect not to, depending on how important you are to them or if they have to or not. Wonderful people listen, no matter who you are, and respect you as a person. A trap that some get into as they get older is, "I don't have to do that anymore" Being kind, caring and respectful is a learned behavior that hopefully improves with age not avoided or unlearned.
