How Low Can You Go?

There is an old adage among pilots that one can only tie the low altitude flying record, not beat it.

Powerlines create an additional significant safety hazard. Thus crop dusters must be extremely diligent when plying their trade.

Photos from earlier this week are of a highly skilled Air Tractor 502 pilot presumably top dressing a plowed field between Corpus Christi and Alice, Texas.

Great pictures. As a youngster I was always fascinated with the daredevils. The brave ones could go under the power lines. I flew with an ex duster that could cut the lines with the prop.

I once was flown under wires in a German military helicopter as a passenger. The helo pilot carefully measured the wire clearance by hovering nearby then ducked under the wires. The pilot then laughed and said: "That's the way we do it!" Scared the xxxxxx out of me!

I consider flying under wires highly unadvisable. I would think attempting to cut wires with your prop suicidal at best.

but only how low can you go, but in this case, can I go under our how fast can I get up and one. Looks like he went over.

I have watched a couple at work, and I can sure see why it is one of the most dangerous job out there Beautifully captured 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
