Taken at the marsh in Bosque del Apache NWR. I caught two different herons catch fish about 5 minutes apart. That is about the limits of my patience holding a heavy camera and lens and watching a motionless heron that may or may not strike.

Lactic acid buildup!? There are times to hand hold a big lens, then there at times when support is recommended. Nice catch.

Pure luck and being at the right place at the right time is worth a lot! Patience is also good. I just have a shortage of it.

Well, to be totally honest, it was on a boardwalk with a nice flat wood top that I could rest my elbows on.

Beautiful shots The surest way to force them into striking is to turn off the camera 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
