The last time I was here, a birder pointed out this Belted Kingfisher.
I went back, and I found him again, this time he was lost in the marsh.
But it was the same guy.

Could bee. Last week I saw a Great Blue and a Kingfisher, they were in the open, so I know that I got a good view.

This time they were in the weeds. But they were both there. So I thought that this is the Kingfisher.

Well looking at my photos, they could be two GBH's. You may be right. This guy never moved his neck, so I didn't think that he had a long neck.

The white on the head makes me think that I was wrong and that it is a Great Blue

Well, for starters, the Kingfisher is about a yard shorter than the Great Blue who stands about four feet tall when standing erect versus the Kingfisher at about six inches or so. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a Kingfisher on the ground as they usually sit on lower branches of a tree or other suitable perch above the water waiting for unwary fish to dive bomb. The Great Blue usually fishes at ground level waiting patiently for a snack or a meal to swim by. There are a lot of good articles on both birds to be found online.

Think you got some bad information from the “birder” who told you this is a belted kingfisher. There are virtually no similarities between the two, other than they both fly and are birds. Good luck with your bird photography however, but be careful, it can be addictive and very expensive.

No, the last one that I got a photo of was a Kingfisher, that is why I thought that this was him. At the same time, I saw a Kingfisher and a GBH in the same area.
When I saw these two birds in the same area, I though that was them again. It wasn't, it was two GBH's.
