Nikon P900 problem

Bought this camera recently for my wife. It is an awesome camera but does have at least one fault. (I think)
When using the scene model specifically for the moon there is a distinct blue hue on the photos. [see attached photo] I don’t have a manual for the camera yet so I’m not able to look it up and there is nothing on Google that I can find. Wondering if anyone here has that camera and is aware of the same problem. Thanks in advance. Also looking for a manual if anyone has any leads. I’m in Canada.

Is it possible a white balance change was made that is overriding the scene mode color? Worth checking? (there isn't much data in the exif info)

I saw an article about using the scene mode specific to moon photography, but there doesn't seem to be anything that would help your "blue" issue: https://www.nikonusa.com/en/learn-and-explore/a/tips-and-techniques/shooting-the-full-moon-with-the-coolpix-p900.html

Attached is a pdf of the user manual in case you can't find a hard copy. You could print specific pages from this, or keep it on your phone or computer for quick reference.

A quick Google search revealed that this exposure mode is not intended for taking photographs of the moon, but rather for taking photographs of terrestrial subjects illuminated by moonlight.

I suggest using regular daylight settings for taking pictures of the moon...it is illuminated by direct sunlight just like earth landscapes are.

See the link I just attached above. "Shooting the full moon in 'Moon Scene Mode' "

A video (I haven't watched): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7u7l7dSCJs

white balance change (some tips for better focus are in the article):

Jack, I printed the complete manual for the P900 and no longer have the camera.

If you are interested it is yours for postage.

Let me know if interested.

I recommend getting the "Guide to the Coolpix P900" by Alexander White; it's full of info and tips, and is far better than the Nikon instruction manual. Had to dig mine out and look at the Scenes Mode. When you first go to the Moon setup in Scenes, the first screen shows a column on the right of "virtual" color filters you can use, going from "none" at the top down through gray, red, yellow, and blue at the bottom. There is a little white marker to the right indicating any filter that being used, if any. Just use the top dial to move the arrow up to the top. The camera also sets focus to infinity and turns on the 2 second self timer for you.

The P900 has the moon mode, but there is also a means, in that mode, to change the color from white to blue to a more yellow color. I sold my P900, and I can’t remember just how to do that, but it’s there.

Thanks. Mr. Bill pointed me in the right direction.
