First test shot today with my new-to-me Sony 70-400mm SSM II (A-mount) on A99 body.....have not done a focus cal yet tho .......

Prior to this and for many years I was mostly using an A77II with Sigma 100-300 f4 with 1.4X which is a screw drive ......I also use a Canon 80D with 400 prime for BIF mostly, also over the years ...

This @ 330mm, 1/1500, f5.6, ISO 200 in late afternoon direct sun handheld. This is full frame, no crop. This Mature Pelican has not gotten it's breeding colors yet - middle January maybe ? - and was in the water and had just jumped onto this metal piling.
