The small birds all disappeared from the feeders, I put all the feeders in or under the old swing set/play fort for our rain today and tomorrow. But a couple of squirrels stayed. Then this adult Cooper's Hawk came by and the hawk and squirrels have been playing tag around the yard for an hour so far.
During this a large Raven landed on the power wires for a while and the hawk and raven were trash talking each other for a few minutes before the raven went to find somewhere else to get out of the rain and chow down.
This picture is of the hawk during the trash talk session.
Sony RX10 iv @ 208 mm, 1/400 @ f/5.6, ISO-640
handheld out the door because it is raining, windy and nippy. Damn, it just started raining so hard the splashes over the pool look like a layer of fog and I can see the change in light outside.
I am still playing with/learning the RX10 iv. I like this camera as a just-in-case bridge to take in the car but I will say that in my opinion, Sony needs to learn a thing or two about control positioning and menus from Canon. Of course, I have 6 Canons (2 others in the past) and the wife has 2 I got her, so I am just a bit used to them.
The hawk seems to have moved on. Multiple squirrels, small birds and the raven keeps dropping in to snag one of the peanuts I put out with the bird seed. I was hoping for jays and acorn woodpeckers after the peanuts like the last couple of years.
Great pic He really is into that conversation with the alien bird!

Although he's in a great capture, he looks like a chronic complainer ⭐🔥⭐🔥⭐
And there you are out in the rain taking pictures, just as smart as that hawk - But it is a great shot worth getting wet

Yeah, but from the size I think it is a "her", they are much bigger than the males.
I just looked out and she is back.

Or, like folks where I come from, she regards arguing and fussing as almost an art form.

No, I am smarter, I am in the family room and slide the glass door open to get a clear picture.
Which I will do right now, the hawk is back again.
What a wonderful shot. We have occasional Cooper's Hawk, Raven confrontations here too but usually when the Raven tries to raid the Hawk's nest. We don't have a lot of rain down here.

Thanks very much.
This one was just a vocal event. As I speculated, it was probably all just trash talk.
This is the one of the few good rains we have had in a long time. There is some speculation that the Pacific weather patterns are changing, and our multiyear drought may end.
