Not knowing that the NIK install was related to the loss of the photos, I uninstalled/reinstalled NIK. Fortunately, the second time did not harm my photos. Perhaps you could take your K: drive off-line, then reinstall NIK.
So sorry this happened to you as well! I am about half way done restoring the files to my drive. I also noticed that the program didn't install correctly....it wasn't showing up in LR or PS....I had to run the NIK Cleanup tool to get rid of all the old files and then reinstalled...it's working correctly now.
