One of my granddaughters has told me she wants a canon snappy lx ii. I guess it’s a “trend” right now. Anybody have one you’d like to part with?

A 35mm film camera? They're nearly giving them away on ebay.

Yes, Paul. Go figure! She has a $1000. + cell phone for the camera and wants a $30.00 old film camera.

If she somehow falls in love with the camera and starts "snapping" away, the cost of film and processing will exceed what you would pay for the camera after about the second roll. If it launches a serious interest in photography, it might be worth it. If she wants the camera on a whim, someone should sit down with her and talk about money.
Here is an eBay link. You've probably already checked this out.

My thoughts, exactly. Buy 1 roll, get it developed and scanned. Review the results a week+ later. That should end the interest in analogue.
My daughter still loves to use my Minolta SRT-202. She normally uses a Sony A7III for professional shoots, tho.

Thanks, therwol! I don’t anticipate any big interest developing. I’m sure it’s a whim. I’ve offered her the use of any of my cameras in the past with zero interest indicated but I think it’s a tik tok thing.

It can't be a tik tok thing unless they're 'snapping' shots and pretending they know the results in a max 3 minute video .... Why even buy the film in that scenario?

I mean I think she has seen it on tik tok. But whatever - when your grandchild asks what are you gonna do?

Tell their parents to handle it ...
My daughter who is 22 wanted a Polaroid camera last year. I hemhawed around for a few months and the request went away. Lol
After reading the replies , i think the modern digital way of taking pictures make you a better photographer , instant result , and correction of mistakes done on the spot .You cannot do that with film .
