Replacement bridge coming over Yellowstone River near Tower/Roosevelt Junction.
https://highways.dot.gov/federal-lands/projects/wy/nps-yell-12-2This project should have been started this year, but resources were assigned to flood restoration work. There will be parking on both sides of the bridge to allow access to the sidewalks. YNP guarantees year round access to Cooke City residents, but that is another story.
There are three bridges in the Park crossing the Yellowstone River.
I captured this uninterested little guy as he walked by my car on the deteriorating bridge.
The second shot has the bridge in the background as you hike towards the Lamar and Yellowstone River confluence.
Nice pix. That's about as close as I want to be to "that guy".

LOL, I stopped on the bridge as he approached. The bridge is just before the Yellowstone River Picnic Area which provides some really excellent hiking trails and is also the only viable way of getting to Lamar Valley. One trail follows the ridge above the river and opposite Calcite Springs, Overhanging Cliff, and overlooks Bannock Crossing and is usually good for Bighorn and Golden Marmots.
Beautiful set. For Steve: If you crossed that guy at least you wouldn't go to waste. Grizz usually mauls you and walks away, Black Bears often settle down for lunch
