As I have to replace my visit to Ding Darling with other sites I was wondering about the area STA 5/6. Is it worth the distance and time? Only wanting to know of this area - I am hitting all the others on the gulf. I have not seen anything much about STA 5/6 and it might be for good reason.

A Florida birding spot. Stormwater area. Audubon is involved so I give it some credence for that.

Now youre more better edumacated.

My ignorant guess was St. Augustine, FL, on the 5th and 6th of next month.

I may be ignorant but my version actually makes more sense in the context of UHH typical thread titles:
"Trip to St. Augustine FL early January ... is it worth it ?"

Acoarst if the OP had posted it in the birders forum then his title might have made sense to someone there.

A subforum for travel and destination questions is most certainly at least as worthwhile as the birding subforum. There they can impress each other with their travel plans and lens collections without being annoyed by pragmatists suggesting a high end pocket camera.

You're not ignorant, you knew exactly what you were talking about.
Those of us without the exposure, not so much.

"STA 41" was right down the street from me, but that was a fire/EMS station.

Looks like STA 5/6 has no photog followers. I wanted to make the vague reference so I didn't get 33 pages of "I like the Everglades". I went ahead and got a free ticket from Audubon but whether I drive over there is up in the air.

I see you two are both appearing nightly with Benjamin Kubelsky and Rochester at the Stardust in Vegas. Good stuff above.

For what it’s worth, I’m an active birder and I live in the neighborhood and I have never heard of it. Going to look into it now however. If you go, let us know how it is

Edit - just checked it out online. I see it’s in the Everglades out past Big Cyprus. Surprised I’d not heard of it. Incidentally, if you do visit there, be sure to stop and see Clyde Butcher in Big Cyprus. Some amazing glades photography and he runs many photo workshops.

Sounds like you're having a bad day, hmmm...User ID?? I'm on the birder forum all the time and didn't have a clue as to what the poster was talking about.

Whether or not you drive over there is "up in the air" ?!?

"Up in the air" looks like a lotta fun ... but OTOH its very likely to frighten the birds.
