While I was on my photography adventure in October, the leader loaned me a tripod to use a couple of times. It was really small. Folded up, it fit in a really small bag that I could sling over my shoulder and hardly know it was there. It worked with both my SX50 and my 5D cameras just fine. The head used a connecter that my cotton carrier connection fit on. When I asked him what it was, he stated it was a Sirui W-1204 with an Acratech GP-SS head. He said he also had a Sirui T-0255SK-US, which might be of interest to me, but he wasn't sure it would hold my heaviest camera (total weight with normal lens is 7 lbs). Do any of you have either of these tripods? If so, would it work with my 1DX with the 28-300 attached? These are really pricey items, and my local store doesn't have them. So I can't try them out. I really don't want to order one only to find out it won't work. I already have two tripods that I like. They are simply so heavy (even though one is carbon fiber) that I tend to not carry either of them.
Good morning "APL",
I have been using my SLIK 700 PRO TITANIUM since 2014 with absolutely no issues. The titanium makes it as strong as steel at approx. 30% of the weight. Indestructible!!
Good shopping, check it out and all the best to you and yours,
Terry
As you probably know by now, the perfect tripod does not exist. I have quite a collection.
Kathy I have and totally love my Carbon Fiber Sirui ET-02204-US with a TY-70A Head.
While it works well for me, I have no ideal what environment/venue you typically shoot in.
I will say this... It is a precision piece of equipment that has allowed me to excel with my assignments.
While it is rated for 26.5 lb / 12.02 kg I would not push that limit.

I know that the one I was lent was extremely sturdy at that point. Thanks for the link.

Me too. This one folded up so small that I think I might actually use it! Thanks for the reminder.

If the tripod is structurally strong but light, a bag of rocks hung from the post can improve stability.

The one I used seemed very stable. But I admit that we were in perfect conditions. Thanks for the tip.
you know that if you buy from B & H that you can always return it if it doesn't work. And, they do have excellent help

I do know that. But I have to pay shipping back, and that gets expensive (in my book).

Thanks. I checked out the links. I sure wish I could put my hands on before buying!
