I have some bouquets etc. with balloons, but will need to search and edit.
This hot air balloon was flown into the museum for an event named the "Iron Horse Steampunk Family Carnival". The guy was selling tethered rides. We held this for several years the weekend after Riverside, CA had their Dickens Festival and many of the participants came out the next weekend, and we ran a train with a steam engine and many booths and exhibits. We either pulled out or opened the restoration/car storage barns to show off our oldest steam locos and cars. Hopefully we will get it back after the Covid panic passes completely.
The second image is just a sample of the elaborate outfits these Dickens/Victorian group members go to. A British Cavalry Officer strolling with his lady.

I haven't been since the day before the Thomas festival in Nov 2019. I hit the hospital with an ear infection and severe vertigo which lasted the whole week so I missed the whole event. I was scheduled to be the announcer and a conductor & streetcar motorman relief every day for at least 2 of 3 shifts daily.

Then Covid came along and because of my age, asthma and complications from Agent Orange in Vietnam my wife went into Surgical RN/OR Charge Nurse mode. Even many surgeons are scared of pissing off a good/strong-willed Charge Nurse and Debra was an excellent Charge Nurse before she retired. She forbid me to go or anywhere else around crowds etc.

Because Covid was easing up, and the museum was running events again, I was scheduled for Thomas last month, but my buddy Mr Murphy of Murphy's Law struck again. Pinched sciatic nerve in my lower spine and left leg, with pain so bad I hit the emergency room twice from late Sep to Mid-November and have been on meds ever since. Some days I couldn't even stand. Debra and our younger son made it out to help with Thomas one day. I am to the healing stage where it is sometimes a bit sore and stiff (beats I want to scream, cry and cuss at the same time) plus the leg and my bum knee are weak from lack of use. I am now spending extra time standing and walking around in the house and yard to get the leg stronger again.
Maybe I can help with the Polar Express sometime this month, it is there most of the month on certain days.

Hang in there I had to have some surgery during Covid for stenosis I tried to get out of bed one morning and my left leg would not work at all some how I managed to get the VA to fix it a year ago so Iโ€™m back up and running. I just canโ€™t stand for long periods of time

Yes, most of my problems are the left leg and knee. I hurt the knee in Vietnam and had stitches, then I feel on it carrying a heavy case of canned goods when I slipped where someone let their kid play with a can of whipped cream and covered the floor in front of the stockroom door while working the night shift at a supermarket as my second job when I was a new teacher. A couple of years later out at the museum I over extended it climbing on and off a diesel locomotive and just as it was healing I was late for a department meeting at school and overextended it again taking a shortcut across a high flower bed. Then I developed mild arthritis in the heel and hip and now since late September the pinched nerve. I am just grateful that my left leg works at all, most of the time. Most of the time I don't even have a little limp. I just have to remember to let the left leg act like a pillar and do all my stepping up or down with my right. Things go a lot better that way. I haven't driven a stick shift since I got an Astro Van in 1989. You only need a working right leg and foot to drive an automatic.

RJ the first image looks as if there is an experiment going on here with the perspective of the lines from the balloon are tied to the roof of the building. Like they're trying to see if they can actually lift the building off it's foundation?? Wonder how it went..........

Just and optical illusion, they were anchored to piles of old rails etc. that the museum keeps around for "just in case". When ever a town that had train or streetcar tracks that got buried under pavement redoes their streets the museum aquires the newly unbured rails and adds them to our store. A lot cheaper than buying new ones from the steel mills.

Yes, that guy's saber does seem to be a bit much. But maybe he just doesn't like getting too up close and personal.
