Replacement eyecup for Olympus EM-1 Mark III

I recently returned from Botswana where I shot with my Olympus EM-1 Mark III and my Olympus OM-1. At one point I noticed that the eyecup from the EM-1 Mark III was missing. I guess it came off putting it in and out of the camera bag, and I was not able to locate it. When I got home I looked at the manual and saw the correct eyepiece was EP-13
and ordered it from B&H. The Olympus website also indicated that this is the correct eyepiece for this camera. When it arrived it did not fit. The channels on the camera that accept the eyecup are much wider and deeper than those of the eyecup itself. I called Olympus and was told to try the EP-12, which is the lower profile version eyecup. This too does not fit; same issue. It seems likely that Olympus changed the eyecup between the Mark I and Mark II vsrsus the Mark III and that they do not produce an extra eyecup for the Mark III. Has anybody else had this problem or know how to get the correct eyepiece? Thanks!

Olympus did not change the eyecup. But, it's not easy getting them on (or off, so I'm surprised you lost it in the first place). It takes care to align the eyecup, and significant force to get it on.

OMG, I think you are right! Looking at it again, only the rubber portion is missing. It seems like the rubber portion came off of the base of the cup. Now it will be hard to remove the base of the cup and put the new one on. But thanks so much! I understand the problem now!

Just did a search and there are multiple places to get them.

Yes, I got a new one. The problem was that the plastic holding the rubber gasket broke off the eyecup and went missing. I thought that the whole eyecup had gone missing, so was surprised that the new eyecup did not fit. The first person who responded pointed out the eyecup did not change. I then carefully looked at the camera and saw what had happened. All is good now; once I removed the damaged eyecup the new one fit fine.

It is nice to know about this for all of us other OM users. We will know the solution if we should ever run into the problem.

I love a good ending!

Thanks you for posting the results.

You just described the problem I had with my MK II. The rubber piece came off. I did get a replacement to fit from B & H.

Best of luck getting your eyepiece setup.
