Red-tailed Hawk

Found one of my favorite birds to photograph this morning. The Red-tails are plentiful in my area this year, especially in the park I like to hunt in. This I believe is a young one, although, mature enough for the tail to be full red. She let me get within about 30 feet of her which is really unusual.

I particularly like the first shot because it's different from a lot of what we typically see and really illustrates how the hawk gets its name.

When they're hungry and hunting, they'll often ignore you and let you get surprisingly close.
