In a circle of its own ripples at the Riverwalk Parkway in Riverside, CA.
Open shade in afternoon sunlight at about 3:15 PM on Monday, Nov 28.
The picture taken at about 10-15 feet. I was on the observation platform in the main pond by Pierce Street.
The bird kept this up for several minutes, allowing me several good shots. I just wish the eye had caught the light, but it is hidden in the shadows on the side of the head. The image came out cooler than it was to my eye, so I warmed it a bit.

Nicely done. Too bad he was directly below you.
The rings further out interacted with other waves and ripples forming intricate patterns and reflecting the low angle sunlight, so the pond surface was a twinkling field of diamonds and light flashes.

Thanks, actually he was about 8-10 feet out. But the floor of the observation platform is about 5 feet above the water level.
Intriguing capture, Robert!

What an outstanding composition - and a great job of framing with the wavelets 🔥🔥🤗🔥🔥
